Tune in to "Climate CAFES with Angela" on CKCU FM 93.1! This September, Angela Keller-Herzog, Executive Director of CAFES Ottawa, and CKCU host Nathanael Newton welcomed a special guest, Dr. Emma Bider, an expert on the significance of trees in urban contexts, particularly in Ottawa.
Dr. Bider's dissertation, "Imagining Tree Futures of Ottawa: Climate Change, Activism and Politics in the Urban Forest," examined the intricate relationship between trees, residents and the city administration. In this segment, the trio discussed the benefits urban trees provide, the challenges they face, the emotional connections people have with them, and the false, imagined, pretend and true connections between urban trees and climate change. You can read Dr. Bider's dissertation here.
