On Monday June 8, CAFES’ Executive Director Angela Keller-Herzog moderated a community workshop organized by Trend Arlington Community Association (TACA) Green Team on how renewable energy can save you money.
The event featured a panel of guest speakers including Dick Bakker, VP of Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-op (OREC), Raymond Leury, President of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO), and a local homeowner who shared what it’s been like making the switch themselves.
The panelists answered a lot of questions people typically want to know: What do these energy upgrades really cost? Is it true that EVs save you a lot of money over time? Are people actually saving money? What makes sense depending on your home or lifestyle? And importantly, how can these choices help keep your home running during power outages?
Altogether, it was an enlightening discussion with very engaged community members and experienced panelists who answered questions in an accessible and approachable way.
