Between late August and mid September, CAFES will once again hold Mayoral Debates and Eco-Events in lead up to the Ottawa municipal election in October. CAFES, alongside our coalition members from the Peoples Official Plan (POP), organized a very successful Mayoral Debate series during the last election in 2022, with debates in Barrhaven, Kanata, Orleans and Centretown. It was COVID times and we even organized some debates outdoors!
This time around, our preliminary plans are to organize a mayoral candidate meet-and-greet event in Barrhaven (did you know Barrhaven is close to the geographic centre of Ottawa?). Then we would follow that up with a traditional debate between leading candidates at a location to be confirmed. These events will be an excellent opportunity for Ottawa residents to come out and learn more about the Mayoral candidates and each of their priorities for environmental protection, climate action and climate justice. You won’t want to miss this chance to get your questions answered and call on aspiring politicians for safeguarding a greener, more climate-resilient Ottawa!
